Intro price vs ongoing price
The big number on a meal delivery home page is usually a new-customer discount spread over the first few boxes. After that you pay the normal price, and often a delivery fee the first box didn't have.
What brands advertise
Offers and 'from' prices as shown on each brand's own site, checked 26 Oct 2026. These change often.
| Service | New-customer offer shown | Advertised 'from' price |
|---|---|---|
| HelloFresh | 'Get up to $230 off' (home page). One offer in its terms is worth up to $200 across the first six boxes, and says a shipping fee applies on all deliveries after the first box (terms). | 'Meals starting from just $6.36' |
| Marley Spoon | '$284 across your first 5 boxes' (menu page) | 'From $9.95 per portion', plus $10.99 shipping |
| Dinnerly | '$140 off your first 5 boxes' (menu page) | 'From $8.90 per portion' |
| EveryPlate | 'Up to 40% off + free delivery' on the first box (home page) | 'From $3.19 per plate'; shipping 'up to an additional $19.99 per week' (how it works) |
| Youfoodz | 'Up to $200 off' / 'up to 40% off + free shipping' (FAQ); the home page says offers are for new subscribers only and vary by plan | 'Fresh meals from $9.29/meal' |
How to work out the ongoing price
- Ignore the discount and find the plan price for the box size and number of meals you actually want.
- Add the delivery fee that applies after the first box.
- Divide by the number of meals or portions. That's your ongoing price per meal.
- Check the cut-off and cancellation rules before you sign up: how to cancel each service.
A 'from' price is the lowest price a brand advertises, usually for a particular plan or box size, so it isn't a typical price. We haven't verified an ongoing per-meal price for any brand yet, so our trackers show the advertised 'from' price and label it as such.
